Beachy Head delights - 16th August 2025

On an overcast and slightly breezy day I undertook a longer walk than usual, given the cover from the burning sun that got me a few days ago. I couldn't come close to the goodies of a few days ago but enjoyed trying to photograph some regular migrants instead including a moth. Probable Cetti's Warbler in belle Tout Wood from the day before -15th august.

A range of Passerines at Beachy Head - Grasshopper Warbler - Pied Flycatcher

During a four hour return stroll from the Beachy Head pub to Belle Tout Wood on a warm and breezy morning, I encountered a relatively wide range of passerines. Most notable of them were; a  Grasshopper Warbler and a Pied Flycatcher .  There were also; five+ Whinchat , seven+ Wheatear, one Spotted Flycatcher, a Lesser Whitethroat, 30 Whitethroat, a Blackcap, five Willow Warbler, Spotted Flycatcher, a Sedge Warbler and a f/juv Marsh Harrier.. Interesting insects included Hornet Robberfly and Hummingbird Hawkmoth. On the 11th August, birds of interest in Shooters Bottom, included: a male Redstart, a Yellow-legged Gull (LP), three Whinchat and a Nightingale with many more Willow Warbler and Whitethroat present that day.
